It's Mommy's birthday! Shout hooray!! She's a special woman and it's her special day!! (Mom's b-day was July 12th!) She had a fun trip to Utah, dropped Lina off at EFY and spent the next couple days with Laura and Carl. I wish I could have been with her to go shopping at Gardiner's Village :(
My mom has always worked so hard. She has always loved us, supported us and had fun with us. She is special in so many ways!
- Mom is a flower child. For three reasons: 1.) Like my grandma, they looove flowers and gardening. 2.) But she is also a flower child because she grew up in the 70's. Yeah baby! Groovy. When American Girl came out with a doll from the 70's, my mom bought her because it was her! Long blond hair and a psychedelic outfit. 3.) She is captured in art forever as a girl walking among golden flowers in a field. My grandpa found this very large painting years ago and bought it because it reminded him of my mom. Somehow, I now possess it. And I love it! I just look at it and see my mom frolicking in a field of shining wildflowers. It will be a family heirloom that will always stay with me.
- Mom is sassy. I think all of her girls got that gene. (Some more than others. *cough *cough-Brittany.) We like things done right, perfectly, instantly and our way. Because we are always right. :)
- Mom is soft. Just like Grandma she has the softest skin. When I was little I used to crawl into bed between my parents. I would snake my little arm up my mom's sleeve and rub her shoulder/arm all night. Even if it was a tight, long-sleeved nightgown I would find a way to get my hand up her sleeve and find her soft shoulder. It was comforting.
- Mom is selfless. She has always put us first and I feel kind of guilty about it. I still feel so bad about this little story: My parents were super poor and living in Provo while my dad finished at BYU. I was maybe a year old? But my mom saw some little pink shoes that she just had to buy for me. So she brought them home and put them on my little feet. Later, I was being naughty and playing in the mud near the sidewalk after a storm. My mom came running to get me and noticed a shoe missing. She saw it just in time to see the pink shoe float down the street into the gutter. Lost. Forever. I feel so bad about that and I don't even remember it. My parents probably had to live off of rice for a month to get those shoes for me. And what do I do? I float it down the gutter like a paper boat. I'm so ungrateful. geez.
- Mom is goofy. I love when she would chase us around the house with her eyes big and mouth in an O shape. It was fun! Funny!!! She also has the most infectious laugh. When she gets laughing hard, or something strikes her funny, it's an all night affair. She'll still be giggling as she crawls into bed.
- Mom is a good sport. We are a teasing family, probably too much at times. But we love her!!!
- Mom is a fantastic decorator! Our house has always looked like it came from the pages of a magazine. She has remarkable taste and amazing skills at the sewing machine. Our home always felt cozy, warm and beautiful.
- Mom is beautiful! I love her tallness. I love her blond hair. I love her smile. I love her skin!! She is always classy and fashionable and glowing. She always encouraged us to love being a girl and having fun with girl things! Make-up, clothes, going to the salon--girly things. Its great to be a girl and Mom always instilled in us self-esteem and pride. To love who we are and see the beauty in each of our individual looks. We have a great example, because not only is she beautiful in looks, but she is beautiful in heart, mind and spirit.
