Look at that tall, blonde Bahama-mama! (The brunette's pretty cute too. :) So begins the fabulously chaotic and much-anticipated LARKINS JULY BIRTHDAYS!
Aunt Hilary had her birthday yesterday, July 7th! She is the third daughter/child in her family and has a wonderful Italian-Stallion husband and four hilarious kiddos. I love you all! Everything about Aunt Hilary is awesome. Let me count the ways:
- Aunt Hilary always invites the spirit. She is a wonderful teacher. I don't know how she does it. But everything she says feels so heartfelt. I once had to teach in Relief Society and called her for advice. She gave me some notes she had taken when she taught a Relief Society lesson on the Holy Ghost. I took the notes, and admittedly pretty much followed them word for word. haha. I figured, it was awesome when she gave it so I should be good. Not so. Though my lesson went pretty well, I knew there was no way it even compared to the level of spirituality and tenderness that Aunt Hilary conveys when she teaches. (it's probably because I didn't really prepare the talk. haha. i've learned my lesson since then.)
- Aunt Hilary is beautiful! And that includes her wonderfully tall proportions. She is the tallest of the Larkins girls and I think that is fabulous. She is model-esque in so many ways: graceful, slender, long legs, and simply beautiful.
- Aunt Hilary is fun to talk to. I remember times where I used to spend the day with her just cleaning or running errands or helping with the kids. We always had such fun discussions. Many a time she told me I'd find someone wonderful who would take me to the temple. (and she was right.) It was always fun to just sit and fold laundry and talk and hear funny stories about her and Ron, or funny dates she had had when she was single, or anything.
- Aunt Hilary is a beautiful writer. She writes some beautiful poems. She gave us one in YW that I still have to this day. I love it. She is also one smart cookie and can do math! Now that is a talented woman: both left and right brained!
- Aunt Hilary is the maker of the best Snickerdoodles in the world. She has the green thumb of the baking world. I once tried to make Snickerdoodles using her recipe. It was not meant to be. I had flat, rock hard flying saucers that needed a good 10 minutes of milk dunking before they were edible. Oh how I covet her soft Snickerdoodle skills.
- Aunt Hilary gave me my first cousin! Camille will always be my first cousin and the one we loved to death while she was growing up. Thank you for persevering Aunt Hilary and creating such a wonderful person as Camille! That's a good job.
- Aunt Hilary has a wonderful laugh!! I love it. We laughed and laughed once about our "underwear" wo's. (an inside joke.) She is the only one that understands. haha.
- Aunt Hilary is a wonderful mother, sister, aunt, wife, friend, daughter, you name it. She is always there for those she loves. If something needs to get done, Aunt Hilary is on top of it. She works so hard in her callings and I think often goes un-thanked. She does so much for so many.
- Aunt Hilary once had a neon-green bikini. I had to put this in. It was fabulous. The image of Aunt Hilary sunbathing on the hotel porch in San Diego in that neon-green bikini is burned into my memory. I was maybe 5 or 6 years old? haha. Her wavy, big blonde hair and tan skin. Beautiful. We have video to prove it. Somewhere.
- Aunt Hilary is a person who connects. That may sound odd, but there is a reason why she is always YW president, stake YW president, Relief Society president, etc etc. She can connect with young women especially and guides them. How? Through love and sincerity. Young women feel comfortable approaching her and they love being her friend because she sincerely cares about each of them. And she tells them! Aunt Hilary is a supporter and cheerleader. She makes you feel special and cared for.
