Shakin' Things Up in Chile

My Uncle Donald is a high-end photographer for Travel & Spa Magazines/Books. He travels all over the world. Paris to St. Thomas to Chile. And yes. He just happens to be in Chile at this very second. And yes. He was there for the 8.8 earthquake that recently rocked the country.

He posted this to his Facebook the morning after:

"Slightly shaken up after going through a massive 8.8 earthquake here in Santiago Chile. Good thing we weren't in the epicenter. But my room was on the 19th floor of a 40 story high rise and I was shaken out of bed and saw the city go pitch black out the window. I was really ready for the building to come down on top of me. Whoa! There goes another aftershock. Talk about being in the right place at the wrong time!"

He says that a lot of the damage looks the same as it did in the 1994 Northridge Earthquake. (Which I happened to experience myself.) So Good News: Donald is alright. Bad News: The main freeway bridge to the airport is out (pictured above) and the airport itself is trashed (also pictured above.)

So though he is getting some pretty incredible pictures, our family wants him home safe and sound and quickly. I love you Uncle Dodo!

All photos taken by my extremely talented Uncle! On a bragging side-note: this month he has two magazine cover shots for Organic Spa and American Spa Magazines, and a coffee table book cover shot for "Regency Redux: High Style Interiors". Way to go Donald!!

(sorry the covers are so small. check them out at barnes & noble!)
