venting

Unfortunately, this is a venting post...

Don't you "love" when people are rude to you for no reason? Rude!

This mom comes into work today to see the dress her daughter picked. It's a beautiful dress and fits her perfectly. So the mom sees the dress and freaks out that its long. duh. The daughter is petite and dresses come in one standard length that fits a 5'8" girl perfectly. If you're not 5'8" then you have to have a hem. duh.

Well she complained and freaked and thought it was ridiculous that it had to be hemmed. I wanted to say, "What do you want me to do? That's the way it is." But of course, I was nice to her and tried to explain. She wouldn't have any of it. The funny thing is, the mom isn't even helping her daughter pay for it, so what does she care?

The bride was super embarassed. When her mom wasn't looking she'd mouth "I'm sorry" to me. I felt so bad for her.

So the mom kept coming up with things to nitpick about the dress and complain. Then she asked to see the manager. I love when people pull that card. "Let me see your manager!" They use it as a scare tactic, but it definitely doesnt work on me. In fact, Im happy to go get my manager because I know that she will back up everything I've just said.

Unfortunately, my manager wasnt in the store. More freaking out. More explaining. Eventually, the mom just blows me off and starts to storm out. There was nothing left to say, but "Have a nice day." I said it nicely and calmly. She turns, mutters something about me under her breath (real mature huh?, and so I just say "Have a nice day" again. More muttering from the mom and some choice words.

So later in the day, the mom calls and talks to my manager. I had already told my manager everything so she was prepared. The mom complains about everything and then says that I was rude to her and I said "Have a nice day" twice. ?????????????

My manager totally defended me. :)

This mom definitely had a chip on her shoulder. She didnt want to have an answer. She just wanted to gripe. All this hullabulloo over a hem. ???????????? Some people just have issues.

I feel better. :)
