For Labor Day, Scott and I played tennis and went to lunch with our friends the Weimers. They kicked our trash, but we had lots of fun.
Later, we all went to the Fair down in Blackfoot. It was raining and cold, but it was fun to finally wear a sweatshirt. I feel like Halloween is just right around the corner, and I have the irresistable urge to carve a pumpkin! Blake, Celeste, Scott and I looked at all the cows, horses, goats, lambs, etc. Blake was kind enough to explain the difference between hay and straw for me.

After walking by most of the tents and stopping at the hypnotist stage we went in search of the Fair's infamous corn on the cob. It was sooo delicious with all that butter and salt. We went crazy and ate a ton. The four of us shared a Tortatoes basket. They were potatoes cut in a certain way so that they resembled a tornado (hence the name tortatoes). Scott and I had a huge turkey leg, the Weimer's had dutch oven food, I had a pretzel, and we all got a huge funnel cake with cream and strawberries and powdered sugar. Later, the Weimers had ice cream, and we snacked on some kettle corn.

After the food, we walked around some more trying to spot mullets, watched people ride the mechanical bull, and perused all the photography, crafts and agriculture.

This pumpkin was over 700 pounds! That's crazy. All in all, it was a great day.

You have just summed up the Idaho State Fair in one blog. Food, more food, a snack, dinner, and some more food. We missed it by a few days and were totally bummed. Zac's favorite are the deep fat fried cheese curds and I like the tiger's ears. Love the pictures!
Food is definitely the best part of going to fairs. I went to the Idaho State fair when I was a junior at BYU and it was the first time I had ever seen a live cow up close. Before then I had only seen them from my car window while driving down the freeway. I was astonished that they were sooo huge! Yep, I'm a city girl :)
Scott!!! This is Mary Rolph (well, Mary Grampp now for the past 3 1/2 years), but Ami told me she found your blog! I am so excited! It has been forever since I have seen you. Looks like your life is great! Eddie and me are expecting a sweet baby boy in 9 weeks now, and are so excited! I'm adding you to our list so we can stay in touch! Hope all is well! :)
Okay you guys are such a cute couple! When are you coming to Cali again? I really am so offended you never call or write. Whatever happened to our days in good old Idaho??
Hey my inlaws have a booth at the fair every year. It is the Ma and Pa's pizza and sausage sandwiches, and apple dumplings! I know what you mean! THe food is insane and really good! Isn't it funny how IDAHO that whole thing is. If you need any help getting jobs or a place to live in Pocatello, I have tons of family there and they are really great! Let me know! Oh yeah they have connections @ ISU if you need that too!
It looks like you guys had fun. I think I can only do the Idaho State Fair every other year. :) And I love that Scott posted on here! I couldn't get Ryan to even if I begged! I hope Scott finds a job soon, poor guy!
Okay, I'm a moron. It totally didn't click that you're in Idaho. Bummer, that would have been fun! I'll let you know next time we're up there :)
Wow you guys ate a lot! Christine, I'm so glad I found your blog! How exciting, you will have to update me on how the ward is doing!
