Tuesdays Tell All: Smell

So many smells...so little time. The Cawley nose is very perceptive. We've been blessed with superb smell detective shnozzes. (sp?)

One time my family was out to eat at Outback. We were laughing and having a good time, when all of sudden this stench just permeated our noses. Every one of us, at the same time, said, "What is that Smell!" No one else in the restaurant was disgusted...what was the smell! We couldn't figure out why no one else was reacting. Five minutes later a waitress walks out of the back and hands this stinky soup to a person near our table. It was the soup. Wow. It was stinky. We smelled it all the way from the front of the restaurant while it was being cooked.

Needless to say, my nose is very sensitive and its been passed to me from my dad. My dad smells everything. If he gets a cup down from the cupboard, he smells it first. haha. It drives my mom crazy. But I've found myself doing it too. (I don't think Scott notices.)

Enough of bad smells. Here are some smells that I LOVE:

1. Blueberry Muffins (with half a pound of butter on each half, warmed up): I have been obsessed with them lately, in fact I'm eating one right now, and it smells gooood.
2. Babies: They just smell heavenly. I think it's the baby lotion.
3. Scott: I love how he smells. He was away for a couple of nights two weeks ago and I missed him so much, I sprayed his cologne on my pillow. (I'm pathetic I know.)

4. Fresh, buttery corn with lots of salt: At the Idaho State Fair (woohoo) they have the best corn in the world. They soak it in a big vat of butter. mmmmm. The smell wafts all around the fair.

5. Flowers: I love gardens. We have a ficus tree named Micus. Micus the Ficus. (Scott named him can you tell?) Some people have a pet, we have a tree. Flowers and plants just make everything smell fresh and summery. I can't wait until I have my own garden and I can pick fresh flowers every day.

6. Fresh Laundry: I especially love the smell of fresh sheets. I think I should go on one of those Febreeze commercials where people go crazy smelling things. I could definitely play the part.

(Don't you wish that laundry really got fresh this way? Blowing in a meadow surrounded by blossoms? Maybe in the celestial kingdom.)

7. The Beach: Oh how I miss it. I can't even explain it. It's wonderful.

There are so many more smells, but I don't have the time. Happy "Smelling" everyone!
