The WHOLE family--meaning Grandpa and Grandpa, The Cawleys, The Riddles, The Masinos and The Larkins--has had one roller-coaster of a month and its not even done yet. I love my family, each and every one, and many tears have been shed this month for various reasons.

#2. Five Birthdays this month! A lot of partying.
#3. Two Surgeries. Camille, 16, had her major surgery a few days ago. One word: horrific. The details aren't important, but Camille is such a trooper. Seriously, she is my hero. She is so brave and strong. The surgery lasted seven hours and the doctor at UCLA said it was by far the hardest surgery he has ever done. Not exactly what you want to hear, but she is recovering. She spent a few days in the hospital writing messages on a white board because she couldn't talk. I cried and cried after talking with my mom and texting with Hilary and Heather, hearing the details of what Camille was suffering. Its such a helpless feeling. I don't want my cousin to suffer. But at the same time, we have to count our blessings for modern medicine and the opportunities it affords her. After a couple days in the hospital, the feisty Larkins spirit came with a vengeance and Camille demanded to go home. Haha. It makes me laugh to hear that. I'm sure its harder to throw a fit with a whiteboard. But when the Larkins girls want something done their way, right now, watch out. The doctor said it was fine, removed the tubes and now Camille is home. Much more comfortable. Her recovery will take at least 6 weeks.
Grandma had eye surgery yesterday. The eye doctor in Singapore explained to me that Grandma has eyes like most Asians. They are naturally smaller and so everything in the eye is more compact which can cause problems. Thankfully it wasn't as intense and she could go home immediately. But it is still painful nonetheless and she is home recovering with Grandpa taking care of her. She is just as strong and a wonderful example as always. I can't wait to wrap my arms around both my Grandma and Camille!
#4. A Mission Call! Yesterday, it came while Lina was home by herself. She texted me excitedly and the news spread around the family. We waited until both my dad and brother were home from work. Dad had everyone conference call in so we could all hear together at the same time. It was so much fun to hear everyone on the phone at the same time. Everyone was jibber-jabbering and laughing and it made me so happy. I think my family is the best. They can do no wrong in my eyes. After dad did role call to make sure everyone was on, Spencer opened his call and read aloud. He has been called to serve in the Nashville, Tennessee Mission!! Spencer is so pumped and cannot wait to go. He reports to the MTC on Oct. 27th. I still can't believe that Spencer is old enough to serve a mission, but I am so proud of him. He has always done what's right and is such a good example to all of his cousins, especially all the boy cousins because they worship him. The next couple of months will be so exciting for him as he prepares. Congrats Spencer!!!
So... a lot accomplished in this month. And the fun is just beginning as we head to Hawaii next week. Aloha!
