We got home from the hospital in the late afternoon on Monday, the 27th--the actual due date--and my mom flew in that night! It was such a relief to have her by our side and help us learn how to care for our baby. And honestly, I was just happy to have her take care of me and hang out with us :)
Scott was able to get two weeks off for paternity leave from work--soo wonderful. So Jacob had three adults to cater to his every whim. Actually, it was really just two. I spent most of the time flat on my back on the couch or on the floor, practically papier-mached with Icy-Hots all over my body and popping pills left and right as I learned to eat upside down. Pumping sideways on the floor was also a challenge. I have so many skills now.
Though we were pretty confined to the house, we had tons of fun. Jacob is honestly a perfect baby. He cried maybe once. And slept for 5-6 hours straight every night. He is a piece of heaven. Grandma Heidi gushed over Jacob every second she could--and cried too :) She was already dreading leaving. As was I. But I was good and waited until the last day to fall apart and cry to her about how there would be no one to blow-dry my hair. haha. That's how much my mom loves me--she blow drys my hair and puts Icy-Hots on my back, neck and forehead. But when the time came for her to leave, I was 1 million times better.
We took lots of pictures of course. And cuddled lots. And kissed him lots. And talked to him lots about all the people that love him. Grandma Heidi was going down the list and said, "...and Uncle Spencer on a mission loves you..." And Jacob smiled HUGE. It was so awesome. Excitedly, we switched gears and talked to him about missions. Grandma Heidi continued, "And Jacob's going to go on a mission." ANOTHER HUGE SMILE. Every time we said the word "mission" Jacob would smile. It was not a coincidence. My little J Man is already preparing to serve the Lord! :) He will be a great missionary.
Grandpa Martin's little Dodger! My dad is sooo excited to take Jakey to Dodger Games and eat several Dodger dogs (that'll be a couple years :) But he's already practicing holding his bat for T-Ball.
I could munch on that precious face all day. Ha, I do! And look at him holding that baba like a champ.

PS My water broke and I decided to take a shower before leaving too...my hubby was a little anxious about the idea as well, especially when I started moaning in the shower when the contractions started. :) I guess we were 45 minutes from the hospital...
